Advent in the Year of our Lord 2020: Preparing for our final Judgment.

In Advent 2020, we celebrate the Word becoming flesh; we re-present the Word in the Holy Mass; we prepare in both fear and joy for the Final Return of our Lord.

This First Sunday of Advent, 2020, really brings the "prepare the way" Advent message to life, looking around at the self-destruction of the human family, human culture, human nations and even humanity itself. The homily this morning beautifully addressed how Advent is related to past, present and future.

The past, in the celebration of the Nativity of our Lord. The present, in the re-presentation of the Eucharist, i.e., God with us, God among us and God in us. And the future, in the winding down of creation, the end of time, the Second Coming of Jesus, and final judgment of all of us.
