Until Jesus, Religion and Politics were Combined. Jesus hit history with a force that split time itself, established the New Calendar and Split Worldly and Ecclesial Government Apart.

Historically, until Jesus, Civil Government and Religious Government were combined; they were one and the same thing. At the historic time of Jesus, the Jewish Religion was a theocracy, governed by religious Political Parties, with the Pharisees and the Sadducees being the principle legal and political governing forces, holding sway over Temple Sacrifices while rigidly adhering to the authority of the Revealed Laws of Moses.

The Government of the Roman Empire, too, was a rigid theocracy, with Caesar held to be the Principle God.
