Empty Confessionals, Popular Liturgy and the Communion Stampede.

Nobody notices or even thinks about all the empty confessionals, but everybody "participates" in Liturgy and everybody receives the Most Blessed Sacrament.

We remember a day when people brought their Rosaries to Mass, and during the longer prayers of the Priest, said on our behalf, people prayed their Rosaries. That sort of thing is verboten today; since Vatican II document Sacrosanctum Concilium says we should "take part in the sacred action conscious of what they are doing with devotion and full collaboration".
