We had a Church friend, may he rest in peace, who was tortured in his declining years by the estrangement between him and some of his children due to them falling away from and denying the faith, and their determination to live in a state of sin. He could not and did no abide it, and he disowned them, and seemingly the whole world, including even the Church, sided with the wayward children and not the father.

But he chose the faith over his own family, and he suffered for it.
