The "Palestinian Problem" is just an Evil Mask; it's really an "Islam Problem".

There was no state or nation of Palestine when modern Israel was born. It was Islam, not Palestine, that attacked Israel in 1948.

In ancient times the Greeks and the Romans called the area Palestine. The people who ruled it called it Israel and Judah. After Islam conquered it, and after the failure of the Crusades, it became part of the Mamluk Sultanate, a province of Syria, and then, the Ottoman Empire. World War I resulted in the British conquest of 1917. There was never any official state called Palestine.
