Government by Party is what George Washington warned about in his farewell address to the nation. He warned of the consequences of the rise of Political Parties and of the rise of Political Party power itself. Political Power for its own sake is an attractive, addictive and corrupting evil temptation. At the Constitution's Ratification, there were no Political Parties.
