At last, we know who they are. Maybe more "in the know" people knew all this, but it's all pretty new to most of us. We have all been aware, for years and years, of the existence of a "Lavender Mafia" among ordained Catholic clerics, who were always covering up each other's sex abuse crimes, and who were always surreptitiously obtaining and abusing political power in various areas of the Church. And there were all those rumors of a secret St. Galen Mafia of evil Cardinals plotting and working to actually take political control of the whole Church herself.
