The Superficial Beauty of the Lie.

When the veil comes off of the lie, the superficial beauty of it is finally seen for what it is: another lie, or another layer of a lie. It is the Superficial Beauty of the the lie that presents the initial allure and attraction of untruth and falsehood. The trick is to see through the veil in the first place. Seeing through the veil is best done from a grounding in Truth. Where is that grounding? Our American religion - what Franklin called general Christianity - tells us two things about it:

  1. God is good.
  2. God is Truth.
From that grounding, the believer can say that:
  1. Opposing God, or the anti-God position, is evil.
  2. Untruth is opposition to Truth, which is and must be evil.
Knowing that there is, in the world, such a thing as good and evil forewarns the believer to be alert to the lie, and thus, while not immune to lies, he is more likely and able to see through the veil.
