"Equality" in the 1776 interpretation meant equal before God, which is to say, equal in rights before the law. (See Equality, Life, Liberty, Property and the separate constitutional-right links.) But the 1790 French interpretation of "ÉGALITÉ meant something entirely different, and more akin to today's American Marxocrat Party's use of the word "equity", meaning, equality of outcome. The opposite of the idea of everyone getting a fair shot. The whole Robespierre-ian terrorism was supposed to be establishing wealth equality, rank equality, cultural equality and social status equality, even academic equality, without anyone ever having to actually earn any of that.
