It's more than a "slippery slope"; it is many of them. All lead to even steeper and even more slippery slopes, all leading downhill. The higher we place Creation and the higher we hold ourselves in our own esteem, the less we worship, appreciate and esteem God. The more we disregard and disrespect God the deeper we fall into nonsense and insanity, and into self destructive beliefs and behaviors.

To "forget" God is to lose all sense of our very purpose for being.
