Subscribers Newsletter If you have been sending comments to me and I have not answered, this is why. Page down to the last comment. I just don't want to mess with FaceBook any more, because I don't trust it. That doesn't mean I don't like any of you; it means that it will always remain possible that any communication you receive on FaceBook from me might not be from me. Sorry, but that's the way it goes. Vic is now on FaceBookTo visit Vic's FaceBook page use the following link: In May 2010 I noticed that many hits on this Website were coming in from this nebulous, amorphous thing called FaceBook, so I looked into what FaceBook was, and wound up creating my own free FaceBook page. I have no visibility into who is accessing this site, but I do have access to the numbers of hits on various pages, and where (on the Internet) those numbers linked in from. I'm still figuring FaceBook out, but anyway, if you have a free FaceBook account, now you can go there from here, as well as here from there. I noticed the same thing on a smaller scale from Twitter, fooled around with it for awhile, and decided I didn't like it, because it's so restrictive. I don't think it's for literate people; it’s too brief, and uses entirely too much "shorthand" English for my taste. I now have a Twitter account out there, but I hardly ever get on it and don't do anything much with it. FaceBook is kind of neat, and since I opened my own page on it I’ve discovered lots of personal friends and relatives that I didn’t even know were on FaceBook. It’s an interesting little e-world of its own. There is a danger, however: it can be an addictive activity, and thus a time robber. My own spare time that I use in computer activity is supposed to be spent on adding things to this website, not gabbing with friends and getting distracted by other stuff. So FaceBook requires a little prioritizing and a little self discipline, unless you've got all the time in the world. It is very easy to lose track and spend an hour when you only intended to spend 10 minutes. If you already have a free FaceBook account of your own, you can click on the little FaceBook button at the very bottom of any page on this site, and then include your comments and "share" that page on the "wall" page of your own FaceBook account. The following is a “bloglet” I submitted yesterday regarding my FaceBook account. I now put a copy here so that a permanent record will still exist after yesterday’s entry rolls off the blog list, and so that anyone who wants to may comment about it. Sorry that those who demand freedom for themselves can't respect yours. Date: Sat Aug 06 20:42:12 2011
Fr. Trott: Neither Marxists nor Moslems can long tolerate free speech, or liberty, or even free thought. False ideologies cannot stand in the light of the Truth. Regards, Vic Date: Sat Aug 06 13:35:11 2011
Vic – If you do that, your facebook account named Vic Biorseth will be open and available for someone else to claim. If your tormentor were to grab it, he could do more damage in your name than he can now. Do not close your facebook account. Lock it up somehow, but don’t close it. Also warn all your friends to change their security to not allow anyone except friends to comment or post to their walls. Just a word to the wise. Date: Sat Aug 06 20:53:50 2011

… Hmmm … I’ll have to think about that for awhile. I don’t even want to mess with FaceBook any more. But I don’t want anyone else using my name on another account either. Will share this as a warning to my friends. Thanks. Regards, Vic Date: Sun Aug 07 19:18:52 2011
Vic, you said Facebook provided no help whatsoever. What exactly did Facebook say about all of this? Date: Mon Aug 08 06:07:23 2011
Brenda: I have been unable to talk to a human being at FaceBook; all I get is autoresponder emails, and re-direction back to FaceBook Help, which would be better named FaceBook Help Yourself. Here’s the typical FaceBook email response: Hi, And that’s it. I got a lot of immediate attention and help from SBI!, who I have my website with. There was an immediate and ongoing dialogue established with them, and while the problem proved to be outside SBI! and thus not resolvable by them, they nevertheless provided invaluable insight and advice in the matter. But I got nothing, except the above, from the so-called FaceBook Team. See My Sincere Apologies for where this all began. Regards, Vic Date: Tue Jan 24 20:05:21 2012
My dear FaceBook Friends: Please do not be offended, but I am no longer conversing on FaceBook, for it has proved to be too insecure. If any of you get FaceBook messages that look like they are from me, rest assured they are not from me, but from someone pretending to be me. The ONLY thing I intend to post on FaceBook in the future is to SHARE new articles from my website as they are completed. I will hit the SHARE button on the new webpage to share it on FaceBook, and that is it. If anyone wants to converse about anything, and we don’t really know each other, then we will converse through comments on my website, or not at all. If you know me, email me or call me. If you know me and you don’t have my email, call me, and I’ll whitelist your email address and we can converse that way if you wish. Sorry to be so uncommunicative, but FaceBook is no help in this matter, and I have a lot more security and control over my own website. God bless. Regards, Vic
