The true nature of Islam: Ron Paul, King Saud, Ali Khamenei, Comrade Obama, all have their versions.  So do you.  So do I.  Which one is it?

Religion of Peace, or of World Conquest:  Which is it?  It cannot be both.  To me, it's just crystal clear.  There is only one common source that is referred to by all contestants in this debate.  Sunni, Shia, Infidel, all, refer to the exact same, one and only Koran.  There's not a different version for every available argument or position.  There is only one Koran, and there is only one Islam.  All who follow Islam follow the same Koran.  No exceptions. 

So why do we, or anyone, look anywhere else? 

Let's just boil it down to one verse, to keep it simple. 

Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection. --Sura 9:29

There are many more like this, but this one sums it up very nicely.  The whole purpose of Islam - its very purpose for being - is to subjugate the entire world.  Very simple; nothing to it. 

The Ron Paul argument is just suicidally stupid.  It says that Islam is perfectly justified in killing us because of "our" occupation and/or colonization and/or military actions against Islam.  So, what action of "ours" preempted Islam breaking forth to conquer, first, all of Arabia?  Then, all of the Levant and all of the Middle East, and all of North Africa?  And, Byzantium, and, Western Europe through the Iberian Peninsula, and, on into Eastern Europe out of the South, and all of that before even the First Crusade? 

Who, exactly, was occupying / colonizing / invading whom? 

The King Saud argument follows the Koran, except for the part about fighting until the whole world is under Islamic rule.  The King and his family would be perfectly happy to just be rich in their little kingdom and leave the rest of the world alone. 

The Ali Khamenei argument is the most correct; that is, in the most strict accordance with the Koran, but everyone writes him off as a nut case.  That "12th Imam" business is a little nutty, maybe, but all of Islam is driving toward one big Caliphate of one kind or another.  That is the ultimate goal of Islam. 

The Obama argument, which is not really an argument, is the current official policy on the matter.  It is the official position of the American government, set forth by the President of the United States, as follows:

"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam." --Comrade President Barack Hussein Obama, peace be upon him, September 25, 2012, in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly.

That is current American government policy.  If you wondered why the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and no one else in the current administration will clearly identify the obvious authors of Islamic terror and murder, it is because they support fundamental Islam, as set forth in the Koran.  That's why it takes them so very many words and such complex language to answer simple, direct questions about any and all Islamic acts of terror, murder and conquest.  They are linguistically dancing, so as to not appear to be opposed to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc., etc., etc.  But they are indeed opposed to those freedoms. 

Our sitting government is on the side of Islam.  At least for now. 

The True Nature of Islam has never changed.  From the day it was invented to this day, the purpose of Islam has not changed one iota.  You can read about it among The Islam Pages.  Osama Bin Laden had it down pretty well.  His personal declaration of war on us matched the Koran's ancient declaration of war on the whole of the non-Islamic world. 

You cannot legitimately call these perpetrators radicals, or extremists, or misinterpreters, or hijackers, or anything of the sort.  Fundamentalists, maybe.  But they are doing what Islam says for them to do.  All those untold millions upon millions of "normal" Moslems who don't bother anybody are not that much different from all those untold millions upon millions of so-called Christians who are largely ignorant of what their own religion teaches. 

The Moslem who knows his religion is a dangerous barbarian.  Islam is an absolutely barbaric ideology of conquest, masquerading as a religion.  Moslem true believers are even dumber than our own Moron Vote.  They actually believe what they read in the Koran, and that it is all actually inspired, revealed truth. 

The whole, sole reason Moslems feel compelled to murder us and terrorize us and make war on us is very simple: 

  1. We exist.
  2. We are not Islamic.

That's just the way it is.

The difficulty I have with using quotes from the Koran to summarize the "true" nature of Islam is that this same approach is used against Christianity - quotes are selected from the Bible which "prove" the quoters point of view. But, as we know, the Bible can be used to justify vastly different and contradictory points of view.

In the case of the Catholic Church, one can refer to the Teachings of the Church, and the final authority of the Magisterium. What is the analogue in Islam? Unfortunately, there isn't one that I am aware of.

Quite correct. 

It's the numbers that make Islam so dangerous.  Chess champion Gary Kasparov once alluded to the threat of the numbers in Islam.  With over a billion disciples of Islam, at any one time there would be a pretty solid 300,000 of them committed to Jihad.  The numbers quickly go up with high publicity political events.  And most of the rest of Islam would not oppose the active Jihadis; indeed, most of them would, in some way, support the Jihadis.  So even the non-participants do not oppose, and probably support Jihad. 

It's like the number of Christians who might believe "once saved, always saved", or, "the Bible is the sole authority", or any other Protestant belief.  That's a lot of people. 

There are over 100 Koranic references to lesser Jihad - holy war - in the Koran.  Jihad is preached in every Mosque on earth.  No Imam will completely renounce it.  Jihad is the predominant part of Islam taught in such countries as Saudi Arabia.  Every formally educated student of Islam is a believer, if not a practitioner, of external Jihad. 

Now, with the current resurgence of militant Islam, there are major recruitment and training efforts underway all over the world. 

At the root of it all is the Koran itself.  It is a strategy of world war.

A person on a Catholic website said in November 2023 about Islam that "Many layers to this onion, some of them as incomprehensible to what’s left of the post-Christian/Western mind as they are to the followers of Islam…

ONE LAYER. A theme embedded in Islam is the self-understanding that they, too, are in the mold of David at war with the Philistines.“‘[About ‘righteous war’] War in the way of Allah’ (jihad fi sabilillah), the Quran cites the case of Saul and David against Goliath and the Philistines (Q 2:246-251)” (Farooq Hassan, “the Concept of the State and Law in Islam,” University of America Press, 1981).

A SECOND LAYER. Of the zealots within Islam (Hamas, ISIS), the jihadist network clearly knows that killing of innocents is immoral…

But they are experiencing a horrified “desire to escape reality or transform it along the lines of a second reality more congenial to the pheumopathological terrorist imagination.” The term applies to a spiritual sickness rather than any psychological disorder or more rational thought process at least calculated to achieve justice, if by whatever means. They know what they are doing: “They are not psychopaths who cannot distinguish good and evil or innocence and guilt” (Barry Cooper, “Jihadists’ and the War on Terrorism,” The Intercollegiate Review, Spring 2007).

A THIRD LAYER. Historically, final deification of the enabling and divinely “dictated” Qu’ran dates back to A.D. 847, over two centuries after Muhammad, when the Mu’tazilite movement was decisively suppressed (another story).

The sporadic Mu’tazilite movement is remotely equivalent to the opening discovered in the West, admitting a flourishing coherence between faith and reason (including reasoning by analogy). But they were suppressed, for at least three reasons. Mu’tazila was deemed dualist in asserting two sources of autonomy and action (God and Man) rather than one (there is no autonomy but Allah). Second, it was blasphemy to hold that God must do what is good for man and that his unsearchable will is anything less than total and arbitrary. And third, it undermined the purity of superior and dictated revelation by asserting categories of good and evil in the universe, independent of the Qur’an (Alfred Guillaume, “Islam,” 1956).

Given these and many other asymmetries between the predispositions of Western and Islamic cultures, the papal appeal to “fraternity” is both pragmatically wise and possibly insufficient in the very long run. To what extent have strands of Islam displaced God—let along the self-disclosing Triune One—with the Qu’ran? The “word made book” versus “the Word made flesh.”

Ultimately, the deepest “political” tensions are theological in origin. And, yet, fraternal conversations are still possible between individual witnesses to Christ and individual followers of Islam. Elements of innate and universal natural law still survive in the hearts of all except those who lurk outside of good and evil (another story: Beaulieu, “Beyond Secularism and Jihad—A Triangular Inquiry into the Mosque, the Manger & Modernity,” University Press of America, 2012)."
